In his statement during the “Kahimunan,” a tribal gathering of the lumads here, Carmen Mayor Antonio Borda, Jr, said he is one with the people in condemning the recent attack of the New People’s Army in his town.

“Let my people live peacefully and in harmony, I urge the (national police) and the (army) to help us protect our communities against these NPA bandits” he said.

On Oct. 28, indigenes witnessed NPA combatants gather in Sitio Gacub, Barangay Hinapuyan, here, conducting a “Boka,” a tribal ritual before launching an attack. The following day, the Maoist rebels abducted their former member and was brought to an isolated area for interrogation, the lumad witnesses claimed.
