DIGOS CITY – Mayor Joseph Peñas in Davao del Sur sent his condolences to the bereaved family of Ozamis Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog who was killed during a dawn raid on Sunday.

Peñas admitted Parojinog was a personal friend being a fellow member in the city mayors’ league in the Philippines.

He recalled the last time they were together was the just concluded Asean City Mayors League in Manila on July 26 to 28.

“We dined, (ate) snacks and joined the forum together and exchanged pleasantries until the culmination of the activities where I told him that I’ll go ahead of him since my flight to Davao will be early morning of July 29,” Peñas said.

Peñas said he is not privy to the personal and political activities of Parojinog in his city even as he constantly met him during meetings and conferences of the league of cities.

“As to the raid being enforced, in my personal opinion that was a valid and legitimate government operation. We could not immediately jump into conclusions that it was hastily done until such time that there is a thorough investigation as to the manner of implementing the search warrants. We will just wait what will come out,” Peñas, a CPA-lawyer by profession, said.
