THE proposed ordinance introduced by Councilor Lordan Suan establishing and designating motorcycle lanes in major thoroughfares in Cagayan de Oro City has been referred by the City Council committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo Lao, Jr. to the City Legal Office for further review.
This, after the committee examined and discussed the definitions and pertinent provisions of the ordinance, including the rules, regulations and penalties for motorcycles, bicycles, and e-bikes.
The proposed ordinance provides that all motorcycles are required to pass through the motorcycle lane only for safety and to regulate the proper flow of traffic.
The committee is working on a dry-run that will be implemented in the city with the help of the city government, the RTA headed by Engr. Nonito Oclarit, and the LTO headed by Regional Director Nelson Manaloto. (sp)
