MAJORITY Floor Leader Ian Mark Nacaya has brought to the august body the concern of the residents of Upper and Lower Bantiles, Bugo, on the hazard to life and property of the rolling boulders and soil and flood water from the unfinished portion of the project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Nacaya said the Puerto-Bugo-Claveria diversion highway was stalled for many months due to issues of land expropriation involving three families.

“The diversion road is atop of the houses of Bantiles area and we fear that if there is a weather disturbance that would enter Mindanao this week, landslide will occur because no rip-rap structures were put up,” Nacaya said in dismay.

Nacaya added that he fears damages to property. “People living at the slope of the mountain and the DPWH are oblivious of the state of those living in peril due to the delayed project implementation,” he cited.

Nacaya urged the city council to step-in, saying the project has already been delayed for unreasonable time.

“They should understand that this is for the common good. This is a beneficial project as this will ease traffic congestion at the Puerto-Bugo-Sayre Highway. The council should step-in,” he emphasized. (sp)
