COUNCILOR Ian Mark Nacaya has asked the police to help in cleaning up Divisoria by ridding it of juvenile delinquents who have been blamed for many petty crimes in the area.

Nacaya  said he and many people are alarmed over the petty crimes taking place right in the heart of the city.

He said city police director Ronnie Francis Cariaga should collaborate with the City Social Welfare and Development office. “I hope our social welfare office and enforcement agency will do something about the current situation of street children who are sleeping, and making their living in the streets of Divisoria.”

If officials turn a blind eye to the growing problem, Nacaya said, he feared the street children would grow up to become thugs and hardened criminals.

“Ang uban gapangilkil na,” he said.

Councilor Reuben Daba said he would be looking into the problem as well as issues and concerns on the protection of children.
