Gingoog City — A 46-year-old man surrendered to authorities after hacking his uncle to death at around 3:20 pm Monday at purok 2B in the hinterland barangay of Malibud, this city.

Police Lt. Col. Elias D. Hampac, Gingoog Chief of Police, identified the suspect as Rodrigo Nunez.

The suspect killed his uncle Salostiano C. Longanoy, 58, using a reap hook (sanggot) said Hampac.

Hampac said the victim succumbed to an undetermined number of stab and hack wounds to the different parts of his body.

The victim died upon arrival at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital in this city, he added.

Hampac said the motive of the killing may have been revenged.

The suspect confirmed he killed his uncle by hacking and stabbing several times.

Akong gitigbas akong uyoan agig balos sa iyang gibuhat sa ako duha na ka tuig ang milabay nga iya gibundakan ug bato akong baba,”the suspect confessed.
