North Cotabato Board Member ShirlynMacasarte has called for several Technical Working Group meetings after deliberations recommended to hold a Pre-Summit for Child and Youth this August and eventually the Child and Youth Summit in September.

North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou J. Taliño-Mendoza issued Executive Order No. 16 to review and assess the code by a special committee composed of well-meaning individuals and was constituted to revisit the code.

Macasarte said there is a need to revisit the code, make it appropriate and responsive to the present condition and determine its impact to the community.

Macasarte authored the code which was approved during her second term as member of of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in 2003. Mendoza, then a member of the House of Representatives, supported the code and granted aid for the crafting and other necessity in approving the ordinance.

“It is of high importance that the province continues to promote the welfare of children and in doing so enhancing all the opportunities for them to become happy and productive individuals,” Macasarte said.

Expected participants to the said summit are children (10-14 years old) and youth (15-25 years old) delegates from the 17 towns and Kidapawan City with representatives from respective Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MWSDO).

They will undergo lectures, workshops, discussions and plenary which will be given by concerned government offices or agencies. (pna)
