for not installing early warning devices to its major infrastruture projects alogn the national highway here.

City councilor Teodulfo Lao, chairman of the committee on public utilities in his privilege speech on Monday, said major canals and drainage projects along national highway do not have early warning devices which place motorists and the riding public in danger.

“We congratulate the DPWH for the construction of drainage canals,” Lao said in his speech.

However, he claimed that most of these infrastructure projects have no precautionary signs and devices especially during at night.

“I personally observed in Barangay Lapasan national highway where there was an on-going drainage construction initiated. The contractor dug-up more or less two meters deep but they just install fabricated standies and tied-up with plastic straw as a warning signs,” he said.

For his part, minority floor leader Leon Gan concurred to Lao’s report.

Sa kadako sa drainage nabulit na kana sa hugaw. A lot of drainage projects which (are) still (unfinished were) left without notice when (these) will be completed. (The unfinished) projects (can be) seen along Barangays Puerto and Consolacion,” he said.
