The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) administrators lauded President Rodrigo Duterte’s decisiveness in stamping out corruption and setting the stage for structural and operational reforms in the agency.

PCSO chair Anselmo Simeon Pinili said the President manifested “strong political will” in overhauling the agency’s official hierarchy and suspending albeit only briefly all gaming operations notably the lotto that serves as its main lifeline for revenue generation.

With the suspension order, the Chief Executive sent a strong message that he has no second thoughts about doing what he thinks is best for the PCSO no matter who gets hurt.

“But he also acknowledged the indisputable fact that the PCSO has an inherent mandate to help the poor and the needy particularly those who are sick but do not have the financial capability to secure professional medical assistance, hence he lifted the suspension order after barely one week to put our revenue generation back on track,” Pinili said.

Private lotto operators and service providers are also wont to securing temporary restraining orders from friendly judges, thus tying the hands of the PCSO managers in the process.

Pinili and Garma were also one in saying that with Duterte standing behind them, they are optimistic that their mission to put the PCSO in shipshape state is no longer impossible to accomplish. (pr)
