ILIGAN City — Congressman Frederick Siao of the Lone District of Iligan highlighted the need to give official recognition to six barangays during the Helping other People Through Education Parents’ Assembly at the Suarez gymnasium, here, recently.

These barangays are Acmac, San Roque, Upper Hinaplanon, Luinab, Ditucalan, and Ubaldo Laya.

Mao kini ang mga barangay nga wala pa’y Internal Revenue Allotment,” Siao said.

The IRA is the barangay’s share of revenues from the National government which is given only to barangays officially recognized by the national government.

Since the said barangays were created only through a city ordinance these were not officially recognized by the national government, Siao said.

Siao explained that the situation has impeded the growth and development of these barangays.

Luoy kaayo kay walay development ang ilang mga barangay. Ilang mga officials walay saktong sweldo.  Magtagad ra sila pirmi sa share sa local government sa Iligan,” he added.
