ILIGAN CITY – This city’s lone district Congressman Frederick W. Siao is back from a study tour in China recently.
Siao was one of the delegates led by Senator Cynthia Villar of the Nacionalista Party to the China-Asean Expo (Caexpo) at Nanning International Convention Center, People’s Republic of China.
“The tour was a great opportunity for Iliganons to look for and invite investors to put their capital in Iligan City,” Siao said.
It was also an avenue to study how development is being achieved in China and compare it with the practices here in Iligan, he said.
The tour was an “all-expenses-paid” venture of the Nacionalista Party, leader and organizer of the delegation.
Members of the delegation were selected based on their potentials and interest to invite investors to the locality that they represented. 28 representatives from Filipino companies, investment promotion agencies (IPAs) and others from the government and private sectors composed the delegation.
“There were governors, mayors and other government officials and other business enthusiasts in the group,” Siao added.
This is the 13th year that the country participated in the Caexpo.
This year’s theme was “Farm Tourism Development Act of 2016” and all the topics dealt on tourism. (Frank E. Dosdos, Jr. Nora Soriño, and Sita Asequia)
