GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The provincial government of South Co-tabato is targeting to make a second consecutive win in this year’s Galing Pook Awards for its innovative Health Plus Shop in-a-Shop (HPSiS) program.

South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes said Monday they have submit-ted the HPSiS initiative as among its entries for the 2015 Galing Pook search for outstanding local gover-nance programs.

She said the program’s evaluators have shortlisted the HPSiS for the prestigious awards following an earlier onsite validation.

“We’re scheduled to present the project before its national selection com-mittee next month,” she said.

The province’s cluster sanitary landfill project in Surallah town was chosen as one of the country’s 10 outstanding local gover-nance programs during the 2014 Galing Pook Awards.

The provincial govern-ment launched the HPSiS program several years ago as a public-private partner-ship venture with local non-government group Mahin-tana Foundation Inc.

Mahintana is the social arm of Dole Philippines Inc., which is based in Polomolok town in South Cotabato.

Through their partner-ship, an HPSiS pharmacy was opened inside the South Cotabato Provincial Hos-pital in Koronadal City that provides cheaper medicines and vital medical and surgical supplies to patients. (PNA)
