The troops under the 4th Infantry Division also recovered along with the skeletal remains were an AK-47 rifle, five magazine, and assorted bullets.

The 75IB commander, Lt. Col. Jaime Datuin said residents in the area led them to the recovery of the skeletal remains last Wednesday.

“t can now be given decent burial after the NPA terrorists left him or her not looking after its members’ welfare,” Datuin said.

Earlier, 4ID spokesperson Lt. Tere Ingente said they recovered two dead bodies of NPA guerrilas where along with remains were three AK-47 rifles which they believe were the rebels their soldiers from the 401st Brigade encountered in the area on Feb. 18.

According to 4ID commander Major Gen. Ronald Villanueva the recovery of the remains of guerrillas is  not new to them.

“NPA terrorists actually had time to recover the body and inform the family. But they did not do it. Go back to the folds of the law, the government is waiting,” Villanueva said.
