IN what perhaps was an attempt to ensure that bread is kept hot and fresh, a pick-up running at high speed collided with a Bonbon-liner jeepney at around 4:50 am today at the Ysalina bridge, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles.

The jeepney, driven by Vergil Naguita of Zone 5, Bonbon came from the direction of the City Hall, heading to barangay Carmen. He banged his chest against the steering wheel upon impact but was otherwise not hurt badly.

He had six passengers who also sustained minor injuries.

The black-colored pick-up, driven by Rex Canubas Villacora of P2 Dalaocalao, Don Carlos in Bukidnon was headed towards City Hall when he suddenly swerved in the direction of the jeepney, resulting in the head-on collision.

Villacora was apparently unhurt. The initial report of the responding officer stated that he was also not found to be under the influence of intoxicating beverages. It was also learned that the pick-up was used as a delivery vehicle for a bakeshop.

The two vehicles have been towed to the Road and Traffic Administration office in Kauswagan, and the case has been endorsed to the traffic enforcement unit of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office for handling.
