AT LEAST nine families will be facing a gloomy Christmas this year as a series of fire razed their houses to the ground yesterday.

The semi-concrete houses of Philip Dael and Javelina Cinchez in Green Village, Zone 4, Kauswagan incurred around P1 million in damages.

Kauswagan fire chief, Fire Insp. Johnrey Donasco said the fire started at around 7:20 am, Friday. They controlled the fire by 8:03 am, Donasco said, and they declared fire-out at 8:17 am.

He said witnesses told him that something exploded inside the house of Dael which later set the house ablaze. Donasco added that they still don’t have an idea of what exploded inside Dael’s home.

Donasco said they are still investigating the incident adding that no one was injured in the fire.

In the afternoon of the same day, another fire engulfed some nine houses in Block 4, Puntod at around 2:50 pm.

Fire Officer 3 Jessrel Lasaga estimated the damage at P600 thousand.
