ZAMBOANGA City– The police here have recaptured the two detainees who bolted jail in this city, an official announced Tuesday.
Senior Insp. Joel Tuttuh, Police Station 3 chief, said the escapees, Argie Gadjali and Louie Evangelista, were recaptured around 3 a.m. Tuesday at Sitio Mangga, Barangay Bunguiao, 33 kilometers east of City Hall.
Tuttuh said Gadjali was rushed and admitted in the hospital after he was shot and wounded by policemen when he resisted arrest.
Tuttuh said they confiscated a grenade from Gadjali.
He said both Gadjali and Evangelista were facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Tuttuh has led a manhunt operation following the escape of Gadjali and Evangelista from the police headquarters.
The two inmates escaped from the detention cell of the Police Station 3 around 1 a.m. Monday by sawing one of the iron bars. The escape was discovered around 3 a.m. during a head count by the detention cell guard.
The other five detainees told the police that they were asleep when their two companions escaped. (PNA)
