THE city government is looking forward to an ambitious P4.8 billion revenue in 2016, City Mayor Oscar Moreno announced Monday.
Moreno made the statement in a message during the observance of the city’s 65th Charter Day celebration here on Monday.
The City Executive expressed confidence that the City’s Finance Committee would be able to raise the amount in December this year.
At present, Cagayan De Oro City operates under a Php 2.08 billion 2015 budget after the City Council nixed Moreno’s Php 3.8 billion since the Finance Committee failed to justify the sources of revenue.
Moreno said that part of the proposed budget would be to upgrade the health services of the cityun J. R. Borja Memorial Hospital here.
He said he would want to see a city hospital with state-of-the-art medical equipment and health services to the residents of Cagayan De Oro City.
Moreno said that the Local School Board initiated the construction of the classrooms out of the city’s Special Education Fund (SEF) without getting any outside support.
Moreno also said that in 2014, the UN Habit named Cagayan de Oro as one of the nine emerging cities of tomorrow worldwide.
The National Competitiveness Council adjudged Cagayan De Oro City as the most competitive city outside Metro Manila and won the Livable Cities Design Challenge of the USAID.
“Cagayan De Oro City is transitioning to a more transparent, responsive, empowering and efficient city government that respects and promotes our multicultural heritage not just as the metropolitan hub of Northern Mindanao but also as one of the emerging cities in the global arena,” Moreno said.
