ILIGAN  City–National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has distributed 6,102  school packs to children in 17 elementary schools in Lanao del Norte from June 1to June 11.

The activity dubbed as NGCPs ‘Balik Eskwela’ program is just one of the companys’ corporate social responsibility program where host communities to the company’s power lines were  given school materials as assistance to parents who have children who are schooling.

“Now, on its 5th year, Balik Eskwela aims to entails the distribution of school supplies and informing the pupils, teachers, and parents about NGCP and Transmission Lines Safety, and the importance of power lines”, said Elizabeth A. Ladaga, Regional Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Officer.

Ms. Ladaga said the company’s safety reminders were also printed on back covers of the notebooks to remind children and their parents on precautionary measures about the transmission lines.

Engr. Avelino Q. Dawis, District 2 Head said the distribution of school supplies is being done yearly on  rotation  basis until all will be given, then back again to where it started adding that priority schools and barangays are those that host  to the NGCP’s line traversing in their area.

Dawis has acknowledged the help of the residents in preserving their lines and in reporting to them incidents that may cause their lines to a delicate situation that will result to black-outs or brown outs. “Tungod kay among giila nga dako kaayo mo ug gikatabang sa pagtan-aw tan-aw sa among mga linya” kami usab mipa dangat sa among suporta kaninyo, said Dawis.

The selected schools that benefited the distribution of school materials for these year in Lanao del Norte are: Tugar  and Kawit Oriental Elementary School of Kauswagan-300 and 250 recipients of the Supplies Assistance Package, Babalaya and Esperanza ES in Bacolod- 120 and 370, Titunod ES of Kolambugan-392, Sultan Palao Ali ES of Tagoloan-520, Rebocon ES of Linamon-458, and Ma. Cristina Central School of Balo-i, 650. From Iligan City: Lanipao ES-361, Kabangahan ES in Barangay Rogongon-273, Sultan Mamarinta Panandigan ES-385, Kalubihon ES in Dalipuga-489, Dalamas ES-507, Servillano Reuyan ES in Mibolo Tipanoy-377 and from Misamis Oriental: Tagbalogo ES in Naawan-327, Kamelon ES in Initao-223 and Kimalok ES in Libertad-100.

School  principals  Norvel H. Alangilan and Sheigred P. Espinosa of Babalaya ES and Esperenza ES both from Bacolod Lanao del Norte respectively expressed gratitude to the NGCP personnel present.
