Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) awarded Kabuhayan Program to 25 former rebels in Binuangan town, Misamis Occidental with P246,564.30 worth of goods for its consumer store or “sari-sari” store business.

The Kahugpungan sa Komonidad alang sa Panginabuhian (KKP) is a DOLE registered workers’ association, composed of rebel returnees who opted to make a magnanimous decision to change their living conditions by rejoining back to the folds of the law and become vital members of the community.

The group was provided with livelihood opportunity for the members’ potential source of income aimed to meet their basic needs and improve their economic conditions.

The livelihood assistance of DOLE Regional Office No. X was delivered in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Binuangan Misamis Oriental thru Mayor Marcelo Z. Abao, and its Accredited Co-Partner ABAG Kalambuan, Inc. KKP President Josephine Amao  accepted the assistance from the department as an opportunity for its members to regain their trust to the government and enable them to be law-abiding citizens and productive members of the community.

KKP member Rito Amao said, “Dako kaayo ang among pasalamat sa Ginoo ug sa DOLE kay gihimo silang instrumento sa among kakulangon labi na sa among panginabuhian. Salamat sir/ma’am! Gikan sa tibuok grupo, nagpasalamat kaming tanan! (Big thanks to God and DOLE for being an instrument of providing our livelihood needs. Thank you sir/mam. Everyone from the group is very grateful!)”

The Kabuhayan Program is the DOLE’s contribution to the government’s agenda of inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.

It seeks to reduce the vulnerability to risks of poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers by providing them access to an assistance in the form of grant intended for capacity-building on livelihood either for both individual or group categories. (DOLE-X EMO PFO)
