A 73-year-old senior citizen of Misamis Oriental is now languishing in jail after he was arrested in relation to a charge filed against him 17 years ago.

Police Col. Raniel Valones, Provincial Police Director, identified the suspect as Clarito Timbol, married and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Mangga, Sugbongcogon, of the said province.

The suspect, who is facing a case of illegal cutting of trees, was nabbed by personnel of Sugbongcogon Municipal Police Station under Police Capt. Tawide Galleon together with the Malitbog police under the direct supervision of Police Lt. Geofrey Taghap at his residence last Sunday at 9:30 am.

Judge Francisco Rojas, Regional Trial Court (RTC), branch 11, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon dated last May 9, 2005, recommended the suspect no bail bond.

Timbol is now under the custody of Sugbongcogon Police for booking and documentation.

Presidential Decree 705 otherwise known as the “Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines” is a law against cutting, gathering, and/or collecting timber or other products without a license, including unlawful occupation or destruction of forest lands and pasturing livestock.
