GINGOOG City Mayor Erick G. Cañosa handed out cash gifts of P110 thousand to each of the three centenarians in the city Wednesday.

Vladimir C. Go, focal person for the Centenarian Section of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-10 said the cash gifts are under Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016.

The three centenarians received a total amount of P110 thousand, including the P10 thousand counterpart of the city government, Go added.

Go pointed out that Gingoog City is the first local government in Northern Mindanao to put up a counterpart of the welfare department’s cash gift for centenarians.

The three recipients were Benita Caniadura Abatayo, 102, a resident of Barangay Talisay; Jovena Calingin Madlos, 100, a resident of Barangay Mimbunga; and Vicente Bolingot Baniga, 100, a resident of Bal-ason.

In Northern Mindanao, Go said they have given cash gifts to a total of 76 centenarians, including four recipients in Bukidnon.
