His method, Estrada said, consisted first of coming up with a chat group, and his chatmates comprised of children, as young as ten years old. He would then offer them money later in exchange for favors like posing “nude” for him via the internet.

He then sends a message to some child of his choice, to meet him at a designated hour at a pension house in the city. If the child declines, the suspect would “threaten” to have those pictures uploaded and so such a young child would then oblige.

He said the police operations against this particular person came up when two ten-year-old children who had been subjected to such by said person, along with their parents sought their help on the matter.

It was then learned that such operations against said person took one month for them as they planned it and then made their move.

A “cute” police officer was then made to enter such a chat group. engaging said person and saying that she is 16 years old, although she isn’t a minor anymore.

After exchanging several “engaging” chat messages, the said person and said young police officer met at Alma Residences, at Zamora, barangay Poblacion. And so, the entrapment happened.

Estrada credits the successful operations to Lt. Nera Cabrera, head of the Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children, and her team for a job well done.

It was also learned that the country ranks second in the area of sex trafficking and that this city ranks first in that aspect, in Northern Mindanao.

He said the person concerned as of press time, is now detained at Police Station 5, at Barangay Poblacion pending the filing of proper charges against him.
