A MISSING 24-year-old man has been found dead through a search operation at about 2:30 pm last Saturday in the grassy portion of Sitio Rosario, Barangay Aposkahoy in Claveria town, Misamis Oriental, approximately two kilometers away from Highway 955.

In a phone interview this morning, Master. Sgt. Columbus Tion, the investigator on the case of the Claveria Police Station, identified the victim as a certain Amvill Barcenas, 24, single, and a resident of Barangay 18-A, Gingoog City.

He said the victim was found lifeless three days after he was declared missing on March 7 through the efforts of the search team with the personnel from the Claveria police, headed by Maj. Melchoy Annaway, Chief of Police, and soldiers from the Army’s 58th Infantry Brigade based in the said town.

Tion said the victim’s body was already in an advanced state of decomposition and was immediately brought to a mortuary in Gingoog.

A witness told the police that the victim was mauled and his head was smashed with big rocks by two unidentified people at around 1:00 am on March 7 along a barangay road of Aposkahoy.

The witness saw the victim collapse and he was brought by the suspects riding a motorcycle somewhere heading Highway 955 of the said town.

Later, the witness identified the suspects to the police. The two suspects were caught in a pursuit operation on March 11. Police identified the suspects as Ariel Domen, 27, and Rommel Dalyon, 22 at Zone 4, Barangay Parmbugas in Claveria town.

Authorities filed murder charges against the two suspects yesterday morning before Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Cagayan de Oro City.
