DIGOS City ― The intensified campaign of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency against the trafficking of prohibited drugs netted another suspected drug pusher following a buy-bust operation at dawn on July 28.

The police drug enforcement unit, intelligence operatives launched the sting operation at Purok Camansi, Aurora Extension, Barangay San Miguel in Digos City at about 2:23 am last Friday.

Lt. Colonel Hamlet Lerios, Digos City police chief identified the suspect as Benedict Niez Sarcauga, 37, a resident of Lapu-Lapu Extension, Barangay San Miguel of this city.

Sarcauga, a newly identified drug personality and street-level individual yielded two sachets of alleged shabu during the successful operation, Lerios said in the report.

One sachet was taken during the buy-bust operation, while the other sachet was allegedly found in his possession. The marked P1,000 bill was also recovered from the suspect, it was said.

The seized drug items were brought to the provincial forensic laboratory for examination, while Sarcauga was placed under the custody of Digos police station while charges for violating RA 9165 are being prepared for filing in court.
