THE Higalaay Festival 2023 has successfully kicked off with an impressive grand launching event held at Rio de Oro Boulevard Tuesday. 

As reported by the City mayor’s office Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy expressed his gratitude to the community for their participation and support.

“The grand launch, which took place on August 1, 2023, was a spectacle of joy and excitement, setting the stage for the month-long festivities,” said Lumbatan.

The event started at 5:30 PM and featured a variety of meticulously prepared activities and performances, including a live show by local artist Jayson in town.

“I am hopeful for a peaceful, joyful, and successful Higalaay Festival 2023,” Uy said. 

His sentiments were echoed by Lumbatan, who praised the dedication and effort of the festival’s organizers and the proactive approach of Mayor Uy.

The Festival Media Briefing, which took place earlier in the day at the City Tourism Hall, provided the opportunity to share information about the festival and extend invitations to the public. 

Representatives from the Mayor’s office, City Tourism Officer Rico Libre, and Tourism Committee Chairman Jay Roa Pascual were present to address the media.

Lumbatan further shared that the Higalaay Festival, an annual celebration honoring Sr. San Agustin, aims to bring immense joy and excitement to the community. 

Lumbatan relayed the mayor’s message of thanks to the community, 

“Thank you for your participation in our grand launching. Let’s continue to celebrate together in peace and joy. Wishing everyone a Happy Higalaay Festival!,” she said.
