DIGOS City ― A freelance air-conditioning technician was caught red-handed in a joint anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation at Golden Hills, Phase-3, Panacan, Davao City on Thursday.

In a belated report released on July 31, Major Jake Goles, Sasa police chief identified the suspect as Jonard Ojanola y Dipatuan, 31, a resident of the same place.

Goles said at about 10:05 pm the joint forces of anti-illegal drugs operatives led by the Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) arrested Ojanola after selling a sachet of drugs to the poseur-buyer.

Aside from the suspected shabu, Ojanola yielded guns and ammunition during the search procedure, the police report said.

At least seven sachets of ‘shabu’ were seized during the operation weighing 12.32 grams with a market value of P83,776 as per the Dangerous Drugs Board (DBB) standard.

A Caliber .45 pistol (Colt M19) with serial number 248395; a Caliber .38 revolver with serial number 9035543; 18 bullets for a .45 pistol; three empty magazines for Colt .45; a digital weighing scale, and other non-drug items were recovered by authorities during the operation.

Goles said the arrest of the suspect is the result of the PNP’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs and their dedication to eradicating it with the help of the community.

The suspect is now in the custody of Sasa police station while his case for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165, and Violation of 10591 is being prepared for filing through the inquest procedure.
