SERIOUS allegations of an illicit sale of a teacher’s plantilla item, reportedly priced at P300,000, have prompted a swift response from the Bangsamoro Government.

Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal has announced the establishment of a special committee tasked with a rigorous investigation into the claims.

“The Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) has created a special committee to delve into these allegations. We need to unearth the truth wherever it lies. This kind of issue is strictly prohibited in Islamic teaching,” said Iqbal.

The Minister underlined the commitment of the current government to take firm action against any official, staff member, or school division personnel found engaging in illegal activities linked to this matter.

Iqbal highlighted that severe repercussions await those found guilty.

He further encouraged those with complaints to furnish solid and credible evidence to facilitate a proper and legal investigation, urging them to refrain from using social media as a platform for such issues.

Recently, the MBHTE appointed 968 teaching and non-teaching personnel across Lanao del Sur (LDS) I and II, Sulu school divisions, along with 16 individuals from the regional staff.

The Minister assured that these appointments were made following a transparent and rigorous recruitment process.

He emphasized that the MBHTE prioritizes hiring competitiveness, assessing applicants based on their educational background, eligibility, work experience, and training.

The MBHTE leadership does not tolerate biases or prohibited practices in Islamic teaching, according to Iqbal.

“We uphold transparency, guided by Moral Governance,” Iqbal added.

The new appointees include 284 elementary and secondary teachers for LDS I; 177 elementary and secondary teachers, and eight PARA teachers for LDS II; 409 elementary and secondary teachers, and 71 school principals for Sulu; and 19 regional personnel.

In his message to the newly appointed staff, Iqbal said, “We’re asking you to give your utmost best in the field of teaching, recognizing and respecting the diversity and individual uniqueness of learners.”

This ongoing endeavor to recruit teaching and non-teaching staff is in line with BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim’s Expanded 12-Priority Agenda, which seeks to deliver quality and holistic education by investing in human resource development.
