ILIGAN City ― There are now two barangay chairs here who claim that they are the President of the Association of Barangay Council.

Cesarve Siacor, barangay chair of Tomas Cabili told reporters over the weekend that “there would be no elections to be made on December 15” as the law mandates that on December 1, the barangay chairs should meet to come up with committees that will facilitate the ABC elections on said date.

These committees will receive the certificates of candidacy for said December 15 elections even as they will also handle the counting of votes and declaration of winners. he said. Siacor to note is the incumbent ABC president and made it apparent in his pronouncements that he is still interested in the position.

“No such thing happened on that date of December 1,” he said adding that on such date, “there was no quorum.”

Over half of the chairpersons did not show up because they were taking their oaths.

“If I win, then I win, if I lose then I lose,” Siacor added.

It was then learned that most of the captains who were not around were taking their oaths with the congressman of the lone district, Celso G. Regencia.

Dante Daplin, an avid supporter of the group that had their oath taken on December 1 said that “there was an election on December 15.”

There was a quorum on said date as those who attended numbered 24. This was said too on air, over the weekend by said individual.

The city to note, has 44 barangays. The ABC President elected on December 15 was Clint Catubig, newly elected chair of Acmac barangay, Daplin said.

The situation then resulted in the residents voicing their confusion on the matter as to who presently is the current president of the ABC, and voicing their concerns on air air and social media.
