Moreover, it has also secured an outstanding second place in the ‘2023 Search for Outstanding Volunteer’ in the local government category, as recognized by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).

In an official statement, City Mayor’s Office chief of staff Sheila Lumbatan eloquently expressed her gratitude and attributed these triple honors to the relentless hard work and unwavering commitment displayed by the city’s bureaucratic machinery.

“It is indeed a testament to the dedication and efforts put forth by the entire City Hall team,” said Lumbatan.

The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a prestigious recognition given by the government to local government units (LGUs) that have demonstrated excellent performance in various areas of governance.

This award indicates the city’s adherence to transparency, financial accountability, and efficient delivery of basic services to its constituents.

Cagayan de Oro City Hall’s commitment to good governance has undoubtedly contributed to the achievement of this coveted honor, according to Lumbatan.

Not stopping there, she said, the city also shines bright with the National Kalasag Award, which is granted to LGUs that have excelled in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).

Cagayan de Oro City has consistently proven its resilience and preparedness in the face of calamities, earning this esteemed accolade.

The city’s efforts in implementing effective strategies regarding disaster response and mitigation have protected and inspired its residents during times of adversity.

Aside from these two notable achievements, the city proudly secured second place in the ‘2023 Search for Outstanding Volunteer’ in the local government category.

“This recognition reflects the city’s commitment to fostering a strong spirit of volunteerism among its citizens,” said Lumbatan.

Cagayan de Oro City’s government has demonstrated its support and encouragement for active community involvement and has established an environment that promotes civic engagement and altruism.

Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, through the words of Sheila Lumbatan, expressed his deep appreciation and recognition for the hard work and dedication displayed by City Hall’s bureaucracy.

“The success in achieving these honors will serve as a motivation for the city government to continue tirelessly serving its constituents and strive for even greater accomplishments in the future,” said Lumbatan.

As Cagayan de Oro City basks in the glory of these triple honors, Lumbatan explained it stands as a shining example of effective governance, disaster preparedness, and a vibrant community spirit.

These achievements are a reflection of the collective efforts of the city government and its valuable partnerships with its residents, she said.

“With unwavering dedication, Cagayan de Oro City continues to set the bar high and inspire other local government units in their pursuit of excellence, Lumbatan said.
