BRINGING warmth and cheer to the island province of Camiguin, the Provincial Government hosted the Winter Wonderland Christmas Tree Lighting event. 

The ceremony took place at the Ugmad Site, Cong. PPR Tourism and Sports Complex, where families can enjoy various activities throughout the season.

During the lighting ceremony, Governor Xavier Jesus Romualdo emphasized the significance of the Christmas tree as a symbol of unity, hope, and the true spirit of Christmas. 

He encouraged everyone to see the tree as a representation of the collective light that binds the community together, reflecting goodness and goodwill.

Joined by Representative Jurdin Jesus Romualdo and local government officials, the event marked the start of a joyous and spirited Christmas in the province. 

Governor Romualdo urged everyone to find hope in the symbol of the tree, guiding them through challenges and difficulties. 

He invoked the true meaning of the season, which is the birth of Jesus Christ, and encouraged people to share their light with others.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the provincial government organized various competitions to bring the community together and celebrate talent and creativity. 

The Elementary Chorale Competition showcased the musical abilities of young talents, with Sagay Central School achieving first place. 

The On-the-Spot Painting Contest highlighted the artistic skills of students from Bonbon National High School.

A unique aspect of the celebration was the Christmas Sikwate Making Competition, where participants from the town of Poblacion, Mambajao demonstrated their talent in crafting traditional Camiguin hot chocolate. 

Additionally, the Live Nativity Contest told the story of the birth of Jesus Christ through live performances, adding a spiritual element to the festivities.

Representative Romualdo reminded everyone that the spirit of Christmas should be embraced every day. 

He emphasized the importance of doing good for the province, town, and country, and highlighted acts of kindness and sharing as the essence of the Christmas spirit.

As the lights of the Christmas tree sparkled in the night, the Winter Wonderland in Camiguin commenced, promising love, compassion, and togetherness.
