IN a regular session yesterday afternoon, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) in Misamis Oriental, presided over by Vice Governor Jeremy Jenahmar Pelaez, officially acknowledged Robert de Lara as the newest member of the legislative body.

Majority Floor Leader Gerardo Sabal III initiated a motion, which Vice Governor Pelaez followed by banging the gavel three times. No objections were raised to recognizing de Lara as a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, effective immediately.

Sabal introduced de Lara to the majority. De Lara, who was re-elected ABC President of Gingoog City last December, was recently elected as the president of the Federation of the Liga ng mga Barangays in the province. This election took place at the DILG Regional Office in Cagayan de Oro City just three days ago.

In his brief message, de Lara expressed his commitment to serving the 424 barangays of the province and pledged to support measures that benefit everyone, as endorsed by the majority.

During an interview, de Lara also committed to supporting Governor Peter M. Unabia’s administration, particularly focusing on the Barangay Development Program (BDP) in the province. He emphasized Governor Unabia’s dedication to giving attention to every barangay in the entire province, ensuring equitable resource sharing among them.

De Lara highlighted the governor’s focus on addressing the challenges faced by children today, particularly those who become victims of early pregnancy. He pledged his support to this cause.

Meanwhile, in Gingoog City, Provincial Board Member Wayne Militante confirmed that the Sangguniang Panlungsod also recognized his brother, ABC Vice President Winfred Militante, as a member of the August body representing 79 barangays in the city.
