UNDER the supervision of Sheila Lumbatan, Chief of Staff in the city mayor’s office, the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Executive Committee has approved the creation of a childcare center at the City Hall.

Lumbatan stated that the goal of the center is to offer a secure environment for the children of City Hall employees, which is expected to lessen work absences and enhance productivity.

Furthermore, the city government has earmarked P5 million for the renovation of the existing canteen at the City Hall Employee’s Multipurpose Cooperative (CHEMCO).

“These measures are part of a broader strategy to enrich the work life and assist the families of our city workers,” Lumbatan remarked.

As the GAD focal point, Lumbatan also suggested considering the possibility of setting up similar childcare services in local barangays.

She detailed that the intention is to create a childcare center to serve the infants of City Hall staff who are two years old or younger, providing care while their parents are on duty.

These topics were discussed at the first meeting of the City Gender and Development Focal Point System (City GAD FPS) Executive Committee, which took place on January 18 at Cronin Hall, within the Cathedral Compound.

Led by Lumbatan, the meeting emphasized the need to assist staff members with young children and to promote a workplace that is accommodating to families.

The anticipated budget for the childcare center is P5 million.

“This funding marks a considerable progression in our efforts to support the City Hall workforce and their families,” Lumbatan asserted.

Lumbatan emphasized that the planned initiatives for the childcare center and cafeteria reflect the city’s dedication to building a workplace that is more nurturing and supportive for all staff members.
