IN a firm statement, the Bangsamoro Government has condemned the recent ambush on four members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Datu Hofer Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur, on March 17.

Describing the attack as cowardly, the government emphasized that such acts not only endanger lives but also threaten the hard-fought peace and stability in the region. These actions, it said, aim to sow discord and breed mistrust among the populace, undermining the collective vision for an empowered, cohesive, and progressive Bangsamoro.

Particularly distressing is the timing of the assault during the Holy Month of Ramadhan, a period dedicated to reflection on values like generosity, compassion, and forgiveness.

The government rebuked the perpetrators, asserting that their actions contradict the principles of Islam, and denounced anyone who condones such violence, especially during this sacred time.

In response to the tragic incident, the Bangsamoro Government has initiated efforts to provide financial assistance to the victims and their families. Expressing solidarity with the affected individuals, it pledged to collaborate closely with relevant authorities to pursue justice.

The government urged the public to remain vigilant and resolute in the pursuit of genuine and enduring peace. Despite the darkness cast by the actions of a few, it called upon the people to uphold the light of hope and progress in the Bangsamoro region. (CBC)
