THE Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental has taken decisive action during its latest session, passing a resolution to summon the manager of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) for Laguindingan Airport.

The move aims to address mounting concerns regarding uncontrolled vehicle parking, particularly the authorization of overnight parking within the airport premises.

Expressing dismay at the lax management policies allowing overnight parking, Sabal emphasized the detrimental impact on airport operations and passenger convenience.

“The deteriorating situation in the airport parking area has been evident over the past months,” noted Sabal, highlighting the need for immediate rectification.

Provincial Board Member Wayne Militante echoed Sabal’s sentiments, asserting that airport parking facilities should primarily cater to vehicles awaiting arriving passengers, rather than accommodating overnight stays.

Sabal underscored the practical difficulties faced by travelers and their companions due to overcrowded parking spaces, hindering smooth entry and exit maneuvers.

“The indiscriminate parking in designated areas, particularly the conversion of spaces into overnight parking zones, exacerbates passenger inconvenience,” Sabal pointed out.

Drawing attention to the plight of vulnerable groups such as seniors, disabled individuals, and pregnant women, Sabal underscored the urgency for Caap management to address the issue promptly.

Despite recognizing the limited jurisdiction over airport policies, Sabal emphasized the imperative of finding collaborative solutions to alleviate the parking predicament, ensuring a seamless travel experience for residents and visitors alike in Misamis Oriental.
