If you want to feed a group of hungry Pinoys, you’ll never go wrong if you serve fried chicken. Filipinos simply love fried chicken! So, when we were invited to sample KK Chicken – Korean Fried Chicken’s offerings last Tuesday, June 11, I was extra excited. On the way to the place, my stomach was already grumbling, perhaps in anticipation of all the fried chicken goodness that awaited us.

To say that we were satisfied would be an understatement. My friends and I couldn’t stop eating! Everything was just so delicious! We literally had a fried chicken party as owners Greanne Mendoza and Jeffrey Uraya served us all their specialties. They shared with us the story of how they came up with the idea for KK Chicken.

It’s All About Fried Chicken

Grey and Jeff both love fried chicken. In fact, they confessed to having tried countless versions of it. And then they noticed that Korean restaurants were sprouting all over the city, but none really dared to go one step beyond and deviate from the traditional Korean-style chicken. So, they asked themselves, “Why not do it ourselves?”

KK Chicken (Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken) brings a modern twist to the Korean fried chicken that many of us Filipinos have learned to love. It highlights authentic Korean flavors with a hint of the unique and flavorful KK charm. It’s not just about fried chicken; it’s about fried chicken with a different kind of crunch. It’s about fried chicken wrapped in distinct, authentic, and exciting flavors. And the secret is in the frying technique – which Grey and Jeff would rather keep to themselves, of course!

The couple also emphasized that Cagayan de Oro is the perfect nest for KK Chicken because Kagay-anons have an appetite for new and exciting food concepts. They’re confident that KK will interest even the most discriminating taste buds – and I agree with them. I’m sure it won’t take long before KK becomes a household name and becomes a solid local brand.

What KK Offers

My friends and I love all of KK’s offerings! We tried four of their five flavors and were absolutely (and heavenly) satisfied. Check out their Krispy Krunchy Fried Chicken varieties:

1. Yangnyeom – Korean red chilli sauce with a hint of sweetness (you can request for a higher spicy level for this variety)

2. Ganjang – Korean soy garlic glaze

3. Snow Cheese Chicken – blend of premium “snow cheese” (Grey said this has three cheese varieties – this is my favorite!)

4. Honey Butter Chicken – sweet and sticky honey butter glaze

5. KK Original – classic Korean-style fried chicken.

You can choose to order big servings (for groups) or go for their KK Rice Meals (one or two-piece), which are served with rice and drink.

KK Chicken also serves Japchae and the yummiest Kimchi Fried Rice I’ve tasted.

KK Chicken – Korean Fried Chicken opened yesterday, June 14. It is located along 6th and 17th Streets in Nazareth. They open right in time for lunch.

Happy eating!
