COTABATO City– Hundreds of students in elementary, high school and colleges in Maguindanao’s 36 towns have participated in the first ever WEmboree Friday, officials said today.

Engr. AminaDalandag, Maguindanao interior and local government director, said the WEmboree aims to instill unity and teamwork in any community activity among the youth of the province and to make them an instrument in saving lives and properties.

WEmboree was similar to Jamboree where the word “Jam” was replace with the word “We” to promote unity and teamwork.

The two day activity also included youth caravan, lectures on the importance of unity in diversity, disaster preparedness, health issues and parlor games.

DILG partnered with the local government of Maguindanao, provincial trade and industry office and Department of Education.

The DILG-led disaster resiliency camp dubbed as “WEmboree” was held in Buluan, Maguindanao.

Speaking to the participants, Dalandag emphasized the word ‘WE’ because she stressed that in times of disasters and calamities, everyone has a role to play;everyone has responsibility, especially the youth.

She said the youth has the strength physically and enough in numbers to help save lives and properties during emergencies.

Dalandag stressed that in unity, the youth can effectively help in times of disasters and training them during the “WEmboree” is one step towards saving lives and forming a community that is disaster resilient. (pna)
