A POWERFUL head-on collision of two heavy-duty trucks somewhere in Misamis Oriental province resulted in the tragic end of two individuals from Cagayan de Oro on last Saturday night.

A certain Loloy Duat, who served as a helper to his driver son Loydie from barangay Macabalan was on board a tanker loaded with palm oil when its engine brake reportedly exploded, causing it to smash into a 10-wheeled truck along a dimly-lit portion of Cabantian highway in Magsaysay town, Misamis Oriental.

The accident claimed the lives of the father-and-son Duat tandem who were supposedly heading to Cagayan de Oro to transport their shipment to Macabalan port. While the driver of the 10-wheeled truck bound to Davao to deliver a truckload of scrap metal items was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition.

Gasunod tawon mi anang tanker nawad-an nag brake unya pa kurbada sya kusog-kusog japon iyang dagan.

Some motorists familiar with the curvy stretch in Magsaysay called it a killer highway as the unlighted Cabantian area has been known for a number of fatal road mishaps in the past.
