ABOUT P10 million will be allocated to Barangay Macasandig to fund its projects while the City Engineering Office (CEO) is mandated to resolve the barangay’s flooding problem specifically in the Sitio Tambo area, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy said today.
“I told Macasandig Barangay Chairman Amor Sanchez about the P10 million in funding and he and his barangay officials will determine what projects will be funded from that amount since they know what’s best for their barangay. I told CEO chief Engr. Jenito Asequia to resolve the flooding problem (in the Sitio Tambo area),” Mayor Uy told Barangay Macasandig officials and employees in Visayan.
Mayor Uy attended the flag-raising program at the barangay hall of Barangay Macasandig and brought with him 500 food packs to be distributed by the barangay to their indigent families.
Uy said he visited Barangay Macasandig recently and saw how floodwater covered roads in the Sitio Tambo area.
In his message, Sanchez thanked Mayor Uy for sending the CEO to resolve the flooding in Sitio Tambo, particularly near the Immanuel Homes area. Sanchez also thanked Uy for fulfilling his promise to light up the Macasandig-Balulang bridge in response to frequent requests by residents.
This came after the Gusa-Lapasan coastal road was lighted up last August on Mayor Uy’s orders.
“I also thank Mayor Klarex for setting up an extension office of the City Social Welfare Office in Barangay Macasandig. Aside from serving our barangay, the office will serve residents of Barangays Nazareth, Indahag, Camaman-an, (and barangays 21-40) who won’t have to go to City Hall to avail of services,” Sanchez said in Visayan.
While confirming that their next ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Barrio’ program will be held in Barangay Taglimao on Thursday, Sept. 22, Mayor Klarex also said they will bring this program to Macasandig.
The ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo sa Baryo’ program allows City Hall departments to directly offer their services to the barangay beneficiaries.
After Barangay Taglimao, City Hall Administrator Roy Hilario Raagas confirmed during Monday’s flag-raising program that Barangay Puntod will be the next beneficiary of the ‘Klarex Nga Serbisyo Sa Baryo’ program.
“Every week we will attend the flag-raising program in a selected barangay and bring the 500 food packs along with City Hall services,” Uy said in Visayan. (Stephen Capillas of City Information Office)
