DIGOS City ― Three suspected traffickers of illicit drugs were arrested in Sta. Cruz town of Davao del Sur following an anti-drug buy-bust operation at dawn last Friday.

Lt. Colonel Kristopher Sabsal, Sta. Cruz police chief said in a report released to the media the sting operation was launched in Purok Pag-asa, Barangay Tuban at about 1:45 am on July 21 where the suspects yielded prohibited drugs estimated to cost P15,000.

Sabsal identified the suspects as Gilbert Balaga Tejeda, 41, a welder, a resident of San Jose, Digos City; Jay Hazer Lee Caminade, 29, mechanic, a resident of Purok Madasigon, Crumb-Bataan Street, Digos City; and Kenneth Caminade Sadili, 29, mechanic, and a resident of Chapter-8, Tienda Aplaya, Digos City.

They were among the police drug watch list of street-level individuals, the report said.

Tejeda yielded a total of 3 sachets of suspected shabu, the marked P1,000 bill used in the buy-bust, a caliber .38 handgun with 3 live ammunition, a KIA car, and a cellular phone.

The operatives seized a sachet of suspected shabu and a personal wallet; while Sadili was also found to possess another sachet of suspected shabu during the body search, the police report further said.

All recovered drug and non-drug items were brought to Davao del Sur Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistic examination including the recovered handgun and ammunition for ballistic examination.

Sabsal said a confidential informant tipped off the police about the nefarious activities of the suspects on the afternoon of Thursday prompting them to plan the sting operation leading to the arrest of those individuals.
