IN a move to bolster Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s commitment to promoting gender equality and an inclusive society, the local government of Cagayan de Oro City launched the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration at Duaw Park on Friday, March 8, 2024. 

Sheila Lumbatan, the chief of staff at the mayor’s office, disclosed the city’s dedication to empowering women and recognizing their indispensable role in the community.

During the program, Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy expressed his warm greetings and appreciation to everyone  present, emphasizing the significant contributions of all the women in the city to its progress and development. 

The mayor highlighted the importance of acknowledging and valuing the skills and capabilities of women as essential members of society.

The opening ceremony at Duaw Park marks the beginning of a series of events and programs that the city will host throughout the month of March in celebration of Women’s Month. 

“These initiatives aim to raise awareness about gender equality, women’s rights, and the need for inclusivity in all aspects of community life,” said Lumbatan.

Through the National Women’s Month Celebration, Cagayan de Oro City seeks to foster a culture of respect, equality, and empowerment for women of all backgrounds. 

The event, Lumbatan said serves as a platform to showcase the achievements and successes of women in various fields, inspiring others to strive for excellence and pursue their goals without limitations.

As the city continues to champion gender equality and inclusivity, local officials and community leaders are committed to creating a more equitable and supportive environment for women. 

Lumbatan said that by promoting women’s empowerment and highlighting their accomplishments, Cagayan de Oro City aims to build a more just and prosperous society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

With the launch of the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration, Cagayan de Oro City reaffirms its dedication to advancing the rights and welfare of women, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the community, and working towards a future where gender equality is not just a goal but a reality that benefits everyone, Lumbatan stressed.
