A 65-year-old resident of Lanao del Norte was arrested for facing a statutory rape Monday, this week.
Police Provincial Director Sandy Vales of the said province, identified the suspect as Mineheart Arobo, a widower, and a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Balagatasa, Maigo town of the same province.
The suspect was arrested by joint operations conducted by personnel of Maigo Municipal Police Station, elements of Regional Intelligence Unit-10, and 1st Police Mobile Force Company while at the public market of the said municipality.
Arobo was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Mylene Amerol-Macumbal, acting presiding judge of the 10th Judicial Region, Branch of Iligan City.
“The steadfast commitment of the Philippine Police personnel to upholding the law and delivering justice to victims of criminal acts maintains the peace and order within the province. I urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their area,” Vales said.
